Allan Henry Aheebwa is a trained lawyer specializing in Tax and Corporate law. He holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from Makerere University, a Post Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice, a Post Graduate Diploma in Tax and Revenue Administration from the East African School of Tax (Kampala), an Advanced Diploma in International Tax (ADIT) from the Chartered Institute of Tax (UK) and is a Corporate Governance Practitioner under the Chartered Governance Institute (UK).
Allan started his Tax and Corporate advisory career at the Ugandan office of the International law firm Norton Rose Fulbright.
He advises corporate and international clients on several aspects of taxation including corporate tax, Withholding tax, Not-for-profit tax issues and tax exemptions, expatriate tax liabilities, tax planning, and deductions, transfer pricing, and tax dispute resolution.
Allan is also a Corporate Governance and business set-up practitioner and he advises and assists entities that wish to register in East Africa either as branches or as incorporated organizations. In addition, he sits on the boards of a number of Ugandan companies in sectors such as Media, Construction and Financial services either as a Non-Executive Director or as Corporation Secretary to assist in corporate governance matters. He is routinely called by business entities to conduct in-house corporate governance training and board restructurings.
Allan’s recent experience includes acting as tax counsel for a leading Ugandan hotel brand in a transfer pricing dispute involving its franchisor parent company, tax structuring and incorporation advisory for a Chinese agro-processing company setting –up a branch in Uganda, and being involved in a tax planning arrangement for Uganda’s largest Energy distributor.
